IEEE DAY – BMSCE IEEE SB – XtremeSprint: An 8-Hour Global Level Codeathon

The “XtremeSprint” 8-hour global codeathon was a collaborative event organized by the IEEE Student Branch in partnership with the IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE Madras Section. GeeksforGeeks served as the official platform partner, providing the contest interface, problem statements, and technical assistance. The problem set was designed for beginners to build foundational skills for the upcoming IEEE Xtreme 19.0 competition.

The 8-hour format tested participants’ problem-solving and coding efficiency under timed conditions. The event attracted global participation and was conducted without technical issues. Feedback from attendees was positive, highlighting the event’s organization and the relevance of the questions for skill development.

Outcomes: The codeathon provided participants with practical experience in competitive programming, allowing them to assess their DSA skills in a timed environment. The collaboration between the IEEE sections established a successful model for future joint events. The high participation, particularly from IEEE members across multiple regions, confirmed the demand for such technical workshops and competitions.

274 participants, accounting for 91.33%, were IEEE members, while 26 participants (8.67%) were non-IEEE members. Among the participants, 49% belonged to the Bangalore Section, 30% to the Madras Section, and 21% to other sections. The event also had a global reach, with participation from Regions R1, R2, R5, R8, and R10.
