The IEEE Student Branch, CCET Alappuzha, hosted a grand celebration for IEEE Day on October 7, 2025, commemorating the first time engineers gathered to share technical ideas in 1884. Held at the Seminar Hall with the theme “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow,” the event successfully united the IEEE community in the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and learning. A total of 80 IEEE members actively participated in the day’s activities.

Proceedings:

The celebration commenced at 3:00 PM with a formal proceeding that included insightful addresses and a crucial orientation session:

  • Brief Introduction: The event was anchored by Adithyan Mohanlal, MD Lead, IEEE SB CCET, who provided a brief opening introduction.
  • Code of Ethics: Hanna Fathima, Joint-Secretary of IEEE SB CCET, delivered a talk emphasizing the IEEE Code of Ethics.
  • Addresses by Dignitaries:
  • Dr. Sarath K. S. (HoD, EEE Department) delivered the Welcome Address.
  • Vishnu S (Branch Counsellor of IEEE SB CCET and PES Chapter Advisor) gave the Counselor’s Address.
  • Aparna A S  (CS Chapter Advisor) shared a few encouraging words with the attendees.
  • IEEEXtreme 19.0 Orientation (Xtreme Talks): The main technical session was an orientation on IEEEXtreme, the 24-hour international coding competition. The session was led by Athul Jacob, IEEEXtreme 19.0 Campus Ambassador, who explained that the competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students with an active IEEE membership. He also highlighted that the top prize is a sponsored trip to an IEEE conference of the winner’s choice anywhere in the world.
  • Joyful Cake Cutting: The proceedings continued with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate IEEE Day.
  • Group Photo: A group photo session was conducted with all members and dignitaries.
  • Thrilling Treasure Hunt: The day’s events concluded with a highly engaging Treasure Hunt.

    Treasure Hunt Winners

    Seven groups participated in the thrilling Treasure Hunt. The winners were:

    • M R Abhiranj (Link Representative, Computer Society Chapter, CCET)
    • Muhammed Rabah (Design Team member)
    • Pranav P (1st Year SR, PES Chapter)
    • Hasna Nafisa

    The winners received a memento, and all seven participating groups were given chocolates as a token of appreciation for their energy and involvement.

    The IEEE Day Celebration 2025 at CCET Alappuzha was a tremendous success, perfectly embodying the spirit of “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow”. The event concluded with a great spirit of motivation to improve, volunteer, and grow, strengthening the passion for technology and community among all 80 IEEE members.
