IEEE R10-Bangalore Section Student Summit and IEEE day celebration
The IEEE Region 10 Bangalore Section Student Summit 2024, held at P.E.S College of Engineering, Mandya, on October 5th, brought together over 250 participants, including students, IEEE members, and professionals. The event began with an inaugural ceremony featuring Dr. Sudheendra Kaushik, Chair-elect of IEEE TEMS Bangalore and a PESCE alumnus, as the chief guest. Distinguished IEEE Bangalore Section delegates also attended, demonstrating strong support for student engagement.
The inaugural addresses emphasized IEEE’s role in fostering student leadership and innovation. Dr. Srinivas T, IEEE Bangalore Section Chair, encouraged students to leverage IEEE for skill development and networking, while Dr. Parameshachari BD, SAC Chair, highlighted the importance of bridging academia and industry through IEEE. Dr. HM Nanjundaswamy, PESCE Principal, expressed pride in hosting the summit and the value it brought to students.
A highlight was Dr. Kaushik’s interactive keynote, where he underscored the role of innovation in solving real-world problems, using relatable examples that inspired students to think creatively. The summit also featured technical sessions led by experts: Dr. Chengappa M on blockchain and sustainability, Dr. Abhishek Appaji on IEEE funding opportunities, Dr. Pushpa Mala S on entrepreneurship and TEMS, Ms. Parvathi Rachakonda on advancements in AI and semiconductors, and Mr. Gajendra Deshpande’s hands-on session on cybersecurity. These sessions provided attendees with valuable insights into emerging technologies.
The summit coincided with IEEE Day, celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony, fostering a sense of community. Participants then enjoyed lunch, providing networking opportunities in a relaxed atmosphere.
In a productive meeting, Dr. Srinivas T shared leadership insights with the IEEE PESCE ExeCom, encouraging the formation of new societies within the student branch to expand opportunities. The day concluded with entertainment, including singing, dancing, and musical performances, providing a lighthearted close to the event. Volunteers were recognized for their hard work, and attendees received goodie bags, marking the end of a day filled with learning, networking, and celebration.
