The Vision for Digital Substations at Southern Company

Brief description of program:

The topic of IEC-61850 based digital substations has become an area of great consideration across the utility industry over the past few years.  This presentation will provide an overview of the Southern Company Research & Development team’s vision of incorporating this technology across our system, the benefits that this technology and our approach can provide, and milestones we have met thus far in making this vision a reality.
