Title: Arc-Flash Training: Learn how to improve safety and follow the NEC and NFPA 70E rules
Speaker: Andrew Gusev, Eaton
Description: Eaton’s arc flash safety training shows you how to design and consider the rules and regulations when designing your facilities and determine incident energy values with arc flash boundaries. You’ll use that information to select electrical components designed to minimize arc flash hazards and to choose the right personal protective equipment (PPE) according to NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E. Each student will receive 1 PDH from Eaton for completing this course. Attendance will be verified after the event by the IEEE Houston Section.
Title: Eaton Experience Center Tour
Description: From a mock petrochemical refinery to a substation and power distribution grid, the Eaton Experience Center in Houston provides a global education solution with the unique ability to provide hands-on training in a true-to-life environment. Join us for a high level tour of this 55,000-square-foot facility.

Title: AI Transforming the Past and Future of Oil and Gas; Enhanced Sub-surface Imaging, Carbon Monitoring, with Data-Driven Optimization and Machine Learning
Speaker: Dr. Zhu Han, ECE Department and CS Department, University of Houston
Desc; This presentation explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is driving transformative change within the Oil & Gas industry. We delve into AI’s potential to optimize resource allocation, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency. We also discuss key applications of AI, including enhanced subsurface imaging with various machine learning methods (supervised, self-supervised, and reinforcement learning), predictive maintenance, and risk assessment, highlighting its impact on safety, sustainability, and cost savings. Case studies demonstrate AI’s research implementation in subsurface signal processing and sensor optimization. We provide insights about challenges in AI adoption and offer strategies learned from experiences for successful practical development. Additionally, the presentation would discuss challenges in AI adoption, such as workforce readiness and data-centric issues, while offering strategies for successful implementation. It emphasizes AI’s potential to revolutionize the industry, promoting widespread adoption for a sustainable and efficient future.
