IEEE DAY CELEBRATION-2025
The IEEE Student Branch of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal celebrated IEEE Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and pride on 7 October 2025. The event also marked the inauguration of newly established IEEE Societies — IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), and IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT) — along with the installation ceremony of the IEEE Student Branch Office Bearers for the academic year 2025–26.
Dr. Parameshachari B D, Vice Chair, Membership Development Committee (MDC) IEEE Bangalore Section was the chief guest and inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp and also inaugurated the new societies and addressed the audience. In his inspiring talk, he emphasized the importance of active participation in IEEE activities and the role of professional societies in shaping the careers of young engineers.
The session was presided over by Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Dean (Academics), who delivered the presidential remarks and encouraged students to make the best use of IEEE resources, technical platforms, and networking opportunities for professional growth.
The program commenced with an invocation by Ms. Prajna Nayak, seeking the blessings of the Almighty. Mr. Nagaraja Rao, IEEE Branch Counsellor, welcomed the gathering and highlighted about IEEE Day. Ms. Amrutha introduced the Chief Guest, while Ms. Akshatha Rao compered the event. Ms. Annapurna Shenoy proposed a vote of thanks.
On the occasion of IEEE Day, the Student Branch also organized a series of technical and fun competitions for students, aimed at fostering creativity and teamwork. Winners were felicitated with prizes during the program. More than 150 students have participated in the program.
The event successfully reflected the spirit of IEEE — “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow” — and strengthened the sense of collaboration, innovation, and leadership among students.
