IEEE DAY Celebration

Objective:
The IEEE Organising Team took a brief respite during the high-energy Medha Hackathon to celebrate IEEE
Day on October 7th. This global day commemorates the first-time engineers worldwide gathered in 1884 to
share technical ideas, reflecting the enduring theme of “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow.”

Overview: IEEE Student Chapter GLBITM:
The IEEE GLBITM Student Branch is a powerhouse of innovation, underpinned by remarkable leadership,
heralding the motto “Advancing Technology for Humanity”. Our Director Dr. Preeti Bajaj Ma’am, a pivotal
figure in the global community, is the founder and General Chair of the IEEE ICETET conference series and
currently serves as the Chair-Elect for the IEEE India Council, driving this success. GLBITM proudly stands
as a major IEEE hub, recently hosting the high-level IEEE India Council Meet 2025, which welcomed the
CEO of the GL Bajaj group and other senior dignitaries. Furthermore, our departments have successfully
spearheaded global research platforms, including the ICPCT-2025 (by CSE-AI/ML), the 3rd International
PEEIC-2023 (by EEE with 340 global researchers), and the ICDT-2023 (co-sponsored by the IEEE UP
Section).

Outcomes:
a) Celebration:
The celebration culminated in a wonderful cake cutting ceremony. It was an honour to host our honourable
torch-bearers, starting with our Director, Dr. Preeti Bajaj Ma’am, Dean of Strategy, Dr. Shashank Awasthi Sir,
alongside the respected Heads of Departments – the HoD of CS&AI Deptt, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Pippal Sir, the
HoD of ECE Deptt, Dr. Satyendra Sharma Sir, and The HoD of EEE Dept, Dr. Mohit Bansal Sir, the HoD of
CSEAIML Deptt, Dr. Santosh Kumar Srivastava Sir, The HoD of CSE Deptt, Dr. Sansar Singh Chauhan Sir,
, the HoD of CS&DS Deptt, Dr. Harikesh Singh Sir, and the HoD of CS&IT Deptt, Dr. PC Vashisht Sir, all
dedicated Core members, and the enthusiastic Student Members of the IEEE Student Branch. This event was
a true representation of the entire GLBITM fraternity coming together to celebrate the collective achievements
of the organization. And what better way to commemorate this delightful congregation with a scrumptious
cake! All the Organizing Team Members and the MEDHA participants enjoyed the short but sugary
intermission, revelling in the IEEE Day Celebrations.

b) IEEE Quiz
To ensure the mission of IEEE resonated with everyone, we hosted a quick and engaging “Know Your IEEE”
quiz! With questions ranging from the history of IEEE to questions about the GLBITM Student Chapter, the
kids promptly answered them to win a chocolaty treat. This event was designed to raise awareness about the
organization’s goals and global impact, successfully inspiring the next generation of technologists. The day
was a perfect fusion of community bonding, and celebratory learning.
