IEEE DAY SB RIT, Trapped in a Lab
As part of the IEEE Day 2025 celebrations, the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS) Student Chapter in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch, RIT-B, organized an innovative and beginner-friendly technical event titled “Trapped in a Lab: The Ultimate Tech Escape.” The event aimed to blend creativity, teamwork, and technical problem-solving in a fun, immersive format inspired by escape-room challenges. Designed for students from various engineering disciplines, it encouraged participants to think logically, apply basic electronics concepts, and work collaboratively under pressure.
The event was conducted offline in the Communications and Simulation Labs at Ramaiah Institute of Technology, featuring multiple rounds of time-bound technical puzzles. Participants, divided into teams of three, raced against the clock to decode clues, analyze circuit logic, and solve interconnected puzzles that led to the ultimate escape code. Each round tested a different aspect of problem-solving — from understanding resistor networks and decoding logic puzzles to solving riddles and arranging components to unlock the final challenge. The competitive yet friendly atmosphere fostered an engaging learning environment where beginners could gain hands-on exposure to real-world engineering principles in a simplified and enjoyable way.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 60 students, reflecting strong teamwork, analytical thinking, and excitement for technology. Winners were awarded cash prizes for their quick thinking and accuracy. The success of Trapped in a Lab exemplified the IEEE Day spirit — promoting innovation, collaboration, and the joy of advancing technology for humanity.
