Mastering Research Writing with LaTeX

As part of the IEEE Day 2025 celebrations, the workshop “Mastering Research Writing with LaTeX” was held on October 8, 2025, in the Power Lab (P-3) at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus.
The event embodied the true essence of IEEE Day — celebrating the power of technology to benefit humanity, by empowering students and researchers with essential academic and technical communication skills.

Led by Dr. Kamal Shahid, Assistant Professor at Punjab University, the session skillfully combined technical expertise, academic insight, and hands-on practice using LaTeX — one of the most powerful and professional tools for research documentation.
Designed for students, researchers, and faculty, the workshop aimed to enhance participants’ ability to produce research papers, theses, and academic reports with precision and professionalism.

🌟 Participation & IEEE Day Enthusiasm

Over 60 enthusiastic participants from multiple disciplines joined the IEEE Day-themed session.
The workshop radiated the spirit of collaboration and learning that IEEE Day stands for — bringing together young engineers, researchers, and educators to share knowledge and innovation.

Participants engaged actively through live demonstrations and exercises on LaTeX template management, citation automation, equation formatting, and figure/table insertion.
The vibrant atmosphere reflected the IEEE Day 2025 motto — “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow,” as students explored how LaTeX can elevate research quality and academic communication.

🧩 The Learning Challenge – Writing with LaTeX

The workshop featured several practical modules designed to make learning engaging and impactful:

  1. Template Setup and Structure:
Using IEEE and academic templates to maintain professional formatting standards.

  2. Citation Automation:
