Webinar on “Social Network Analytics through the Lens of Web Graphs”

A technical talk on “Social Network Analytics through the Lens of Web Graphs” was held on 2nd October 2024. The session was organized by IEEE as a part of IEEE WEEK and aimed to provide insights into how graph theory principles can be applied to social network analysis, offering a fresh perspective on understanding the complexities of online interactions.

The primary objective of the talk was to explore the application of web graphs in analyzing social networks. It focused on how the relationships and interactions between individuals or entities can be mapped using graphs, enabling students to better understand social behavior, influence patterns, and network dynamics.

The speaker elaborated on several important aspects of social network analytics, such as:

·       An introduction to the fundamental concepts of graph theory, including nodes, edges, degrees, and connectedness.

·       A discussion on how social networks can be represented as web graphs, with users or entities acting as nodes, and relationship.
