IEEE SustainFiesta 2024: Unleash Your Green Innovations

The IEEE Bangalore Section’s SIGHT team, in collaboration with the IEEE Bangalore SAC and RV Engineering College (RVCE), successfully organized Sustain Fiesta 2024. Held on October 1, 2024, the event saw the participation of 47 teams from various colleges across Karnataka, presenting technology-driven solutions to social issues.

Kumar Rajamani, Associate Director of Cropin Technologies, delivered the keynote address at the event’s inaugural ceremony. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of data-driven technologies in agriculture and sustainability.

In addition to the keynote, several key figures from different fields were present:

– K.N. Subramanya, Principal, RV Engineering College
– Chetan Anand, Information Security and CISO, Profinch Solutions
– Colonel Jai Govind, Assistant Professor, Christ University

*Dr. Chengappa Munjandira, Senior Technologist at HP Enterprise and Chair of IEEE SIGHT Bangalore Section, highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent and encouraging interdisciplinary research among students. He emphasized the need for students to go beyond traditional boundaries and explore various fields. In his opening address, he remarked that engineering students can play a pivotal role in achieving UNSDG goals: “Engineering is not just about gaining knowledge, but about envisioning a sustainable future and leveraging technology to bring it to reality.” He also stressed the importance of the **engineering community* actively contributing to UNSDG goals, pointing out that *innovative technologies like AI and Blockchain* have immense potential to address global challenges such as *climate change, water scarcity, and food security*. He urged the academic community to encourage students to undertake interdisciplinary research using technology to develop solutions to these pressing issues. Dr. Shylashree N, head of the IEEE RVCE branch, was present at the event, and the students of the institution actively contributed to making the program a success.

The IEEE Day was celebrated during the event, which underscored IEEE’s mission of using technology for the advancement of humanity. The event concluded with the distribution of awards to the winners.
